Experience the Artistry of Contemporary Dance
Originating from technical forms such as ballet and jazz, contemporary dance is a dynamic and evolving style that continually pushes the boundaries of movement and expression. It is characterised by its use of floor work, contract and release techniques, and unpredictable changes in rhythm and direction. This style showcases the strength, athleticism, and emotional depth of dancers, making it a compelling and powerful form of dance.

Structure of the Dance Year
Our dance year is structured to provide a comprehensive experience for our students, with key events and milestones to look forward to:
- Annual Production: Held in Term 2 (June), where students showcase their skills in a professional performance setting.
- Presentation: Held in Term 4 (December). Being an Open Class, there is no formal assessment or exam for this class, however we do offer our contemporary students the opportunity to perform in a studio presentation for friends and family at the end of the year.
